OK, guys, sorry for being so absent lately. Laziness makes me not do stuff. Anyway, on to the task at hand. Robert Savage, if the very brief wikipedia article is to be believed, is quite the anomaly. So how do anomalies sound? Well, in a lot of places, this one sounds a lot like ZZ top did on Degüello, guitar wise. Vocally, and at times in terms of songwriting, it's a kind of standard psychedelic blues-rock album, but it breaks out of that hippie mold enough of the time that it doesn't matter. Frankly, if you like "the stink of a too-loud electric guitar", in the words of Frank Zappa, you will like this album a lot. I am personally beside myself at the guitar work on this record, having peed in many a pair of pants at its stinky, greasy strains. There's just a beautiful sleazy swinging groove through the entire record, and the bass and drums are extremely well-played and push and pull with the guitar wonderfully. And at times, they throw in odd-time abstractions to keep you on your toes.
My favorite track on it is "Save us from the cyclops", a song that seems inspired by the old Ray Harryhausen Sinbad movie and goes "There's a giant CYCLOPS, and he'll TERRORIZE YOU".
Track this down.

Laziness makes me not do stuff, either. Very lazy lately. Or tired. Or both.
As long as it doesn't keep you from giving this a listen. Methinks you'll like it a lot.
